Theme parks are meant to be fun, but coming up with advertising tactics to match can often be difficult. Best Displays & Graphics recently collaborated with Funding Innovation at Canada’s Wonderland to create an outdoor set up that would stay up for 30 days at the park.

Funding Innovation first decided to take on this project to raise money for the Sick Kids Foundation. The display required custom mounts to hang paintings, which were to be auctioned off.  Due to the length of the auction and the amount of bids anticipated, BDG had to create large and secure ballot boxes to hold the bids.  The display also required custom built shelving to hold rubber ducks.  Each duck purchased was put in the pond to float for the duration of the fundraising campaign.  After the campaign concluded, one duck was selected and the winner received a Mini Cooper to enjoy for 1 year.

The Best Displays & Graphics Solution

To help Canada’s Wonderland with this fundraising project, Best Displays & Graphics made two 10 x 10 tents that would shelter the artwork, shelving and fundraising representatives regardless of the weather condition. Large full colour graphics were printed on the tent canopies to draw attention to the display, and two flags were then tied to the tent hardware in order to draw attention to the booth from across the park. Full dye sub graphic full walls were also used to add branding, colour, and engagement to the display. Next, we built 2 custom ballot boxes from display wheeled cases that featured a Sick Kids Foundation graphic wrap around on each one. The ballot boxes were used to collect information for the paintings that were being auctioned off. Finally, funding innovation requested that we create “duck feet” graphics that would lead the eye away from the tent set up and onto the duck pond. The duck feet were designed using a vinyl sticker option that would adhere to concrete and resist the weather.

The Challenges Faced

Best Displays didn’t face very many challenges during this project, the main problem faced occurred during the on-site installation of the display. Because the tent was set up on an uneven surface, it was difficult to level the tent. Our installation team had to adjust the tent legs and use some support to level the tent and weights were used to anchor the tent into place. Another challenge we faced was the rainy weather. Even though we built tents, we had to ensure there was a drain nearby that would be able to properly rid the tent of any excess water. The final challenge we faced was that we had to work within a tight deadline; we were on site at the crack of dawn every day. In the end, we accepted each of these challenges and managed to create a successful display just in time.
