August 10, 2017 — The goal of attending trade shows and visiting events across the country is to gain a closer connection to your brand’s audience. And so, it’s important to understand the questions to ask that will help you to build that connection. To guide you during this process, we’re presenting 5 questions to build rapport with a prospect at trade show booths.

  1. What are your experiences of our product?

By helping initiate the discussion on your product, you can gauge the prospect’s understanding of the industry. You can then educate the prospect if they need more information.

  1. What brought you to the event?

An important question for general marketing purposes is to find out why a prospect visited a specific event. Did they want to know more about a product or are they facing a specific challenge, for example?

  1. What are your business plans?

In attending B2B events, you should work to find out more on local companies and their business plans. This process helps serve your company in multiple ways. Firstly, it allows you to understand the path other companies in the market are taking, and it can also help you understand how your products or services can help companies reach their goals.

  1. What is your current business/personal challenge?

People like speaking about their hopes for the future and the challenges they need to come. Find out about the prospect’s challenges and how your firm can help them to overcome these challenges.

  1. How can we move forward?

Try to find ways in which you can move forward with the prospect. Show them that you’re willing to address their business challenges and explain more on what your company does and its unique value in the marketplace.
