When your business reopens following COVID-19 lockdowns, you’re going to need to take safety seriously – particularly social distancing.  This may require some significant changes to how you do business, as well as the installation of new social distancing products such as plexiglass barriers and shields.

Why is this so important?  Let’s just take a moment to review what we know about the coronavirus and current government recommendations.

How Easily COVID-19 Spreads

COVID-19 can survive on surfaces for some time, but its primary method of transmission is moving directly from person to person.  When a person is infected, every breath they exhale – or word they speak – includes water vapor which holds viral loads.  When these are breathed in by another person, that person is likely to become infected as well.

Defensive measures against viral spread must be voluntary and proactive.  By the time someone is actually showing symptoms or suspects they are infected, they’ve already been spreading the disease for a week or two.

Regardless of your line of work, if two people will be sharing space with each other, precautions must be taken.

Enforcing Social Distancing in The Workplace

For starters, everyone in your place of business – whether workers or visitors – should be wearing face masks.  These block most of the exhaled liquids when people breathe, significantly reducing the chances of infection.

Beyond that, social distancing products like BDG’s own plexiglass barriers will be your best bet.  Physical barriers will also prevent disease transmission and can be easily sterilized after customer visits.  Likewise, we strongly suggest having plenty of social distancing signs reminding people of the importance of safety.

Keeping employees and visitors safe isn’t easy, but it’s going to be necessary if we’re to have a 2021 that’s better than 2020.  Practice safe social distancing in your workplace with Best Displays & Graphics’ acrylic partitions and sneeze guards. Contact us for a complimentary quote!
